The Narrows is a section of the Clackamas River that is lined with cool rock outcroppings. It's a swimming hole during the summer due to the cliffs and some deeper sections of water. It's also just very pretty and cool to explore. I've been here numerous times over the years.

The last time I went was in my teens when a downed tree was still across the river. It has since been cut. The area was damaged by the Riverside Fire in 2020 and it appears some of the hazardous trees have been cut since then or fallen on their own. The trail is in good condition considering.

I decided to drive out to the Narrows after hiking part of the Cazadero Trail one morning. I was out early in the day because it was supposed to be a high 90's F day. There is a wide shoulder near a corner where the trail starts. The trail is easy to miss and not marked. There is room for multiple cars in the pullout.

The trail starts near the corner on the other side of the guard rail which has to be climbed over. The trail descends the hillside and is covered in wood chips from previously cut trees. As it nears the river, it switches back once then ends along the rock outcroppings along the river. I explored all along the rock outcroppings and took pictures along the way.

There were some annoying bugs out but nothing seemed to be biting. It had been years since I'd last been here and the hike down was way shorter and easier than my younger self thought lol. There was some trash, particularly toilet paper that was left by previous visitors.

After exploring for a few minutes, I hiked back up the trail to the car. It was cool to have it all to myself with how early I was.

The Clackamas River Trail #715 is on the other side of the river and when that trail was still open it was possible to access the Narrows from the other side of the river as well. Unfortunately, it is no longer accessible due to the damage caused by the 2020 fires.
