A waterfall along Blister Creek in Mount Hood National Forest.

Waterfall Name: Blister Creek Falls

Waterfall Coordinates: 44.95898, -122.15901

Waterfall Elevation: 2094'

Access: Unmarked & unnamed boot path

Distance: 0.16 miles (round trip)

Elevation Range: 2038' to 2108'

Ascent/Descent: +58 ft/-64ft

Route Type: In and out

Route: Boot path that climbs in elevation along the west side of the creek. Led to the top of the waterfall.

Outing Type: Day hike

Permits/Fees: None

Notes: It appears to be considered somewhat of a "lost/forgotten" waterfall.

It appears maybe during the summer months when the water flow is less that you can walk in the creek up to the falls. As of December that didn't look possible, the water was too deep and too fast to safely do it, let alone too cold without proper gear.

Location: Near NF 70 & Pegleg Falls Picnic Site in Mount Hood National Forest, Oregon, U.S.A.

Administration: Mount Hood National Forest

Ranger District: Clackamas River Ranger District

Date Accessed: December 21, 2024

Blister Creek Falls caught my attention because it was within the same area as Pegleg falls. The waterfall is somewhat visible from the bridge along NF-70. We pulled into the pull-off just past the bridge at 44.95836, -122.15813. There is a boot path (unmarked & unnamed trail) that goes out of the parking area to the northwest along the west side of Blister Creek. It's a bit narrow and climbs steeply, gaining some elevation. The trail then follows along a steep cliff-like edge to the top of Blister Creek Falls. It's only 0.08 miles one way, but the the steepness of the trail and good 30ft drop along one edge means it requires a bit more focus when hiking it. The waterfall was very beautiful, a horsetail, and had a good flow rate.

After looking up pictures and information after the hike, it looks like the flow rate isn't as hard during the summer. I found information online about people hiking up the creek to the base of the waterfall which I fully intend to do next summer. The creek was far deeper and had a strong flow with it being December.

According to Waterfalls Northwest, the total height of the waterfall is 35 ft with a year round flow consistency (meaning it's not a seasonal waterfall.)
